Sorry for the down time
Posted by Cuzzy as UncategorizedHostgator really screwed me over today with incompetent service and I lost over two hours of massive hits and most likely annoyed people who could not get to where they wanted to go.
I am sorry.
Things should be working fully now and for those who voted on the Survivor brackets, you will have to do it again.
The issue at first was the WordPress plugin called Polls could not handle the usage today when SI.com sent everyone to the Survivor Babes bracket.
Hostgator suspend the blog because it exceeded its usage quota. Okay that is fine I get that. Here is where it went oh so wrong.
The customer service person at first told me I had to upgrade to a bigger hosting plan to fix it all. Okay no problem I did.
After 45 minutes of nothing I called. Actually it was not the traffic at all. So I upgraded for nothing and I will not be paying for it.
Then I fixed the problem by deleting the plugin so they could activate the account again.
Great, all good.
So they activate the account and the blog goes live. Oh someone did not click or do everything they had to so the blog popped up and none of the links worked.
Finally once some people got their stories straight it is all working again.
Once again I am very, very sorry.
On a day when Cuzoogle should be busting records I spent three hours in hell.
A word to the wise, don’t use that Polls plugin and get spiked by SI.com all at once.
I need a break.

I feel for you Cuzzy…that sucks! What’s the policy with HostGator for usage? I think I’m going to look on their site to find out what the limits are.

Sometime I think price is not the important matter at all in web hosting. But you have to choose the best uptime hosting since every second is very important to us. If you buy a hosting plan that down for 1 whole week, I think you might lost several thousand of income or maybe ten of thousand. This happen to me before so I decided to choose VPS hosting. VPS hosting is quite nice, but expensive of course. Hope this help.:)
