From Kyle:
In light of recent events, i.e. Katie Rock’s birthday, lifting pints with Cuzoogle and the Drew Mac, the arrival of Fischer (my newest potential drinking buddy), the treating of second degree burns and the Habs eliminating the Bruins in 7, the Six Pix has been brimming with creativity and energy. So here is a little treat for the faithful, an extra edition of the Pix. Come back on Thursday for the regular edition.
6. Marco Solo, I’ve been hearing good things about this guy for a while and I got an invitation to go see him tonight. I’m expecting it to be quite good, if the rest of his music sounds like this.
5. Love, For those of you who don’t know, this is an amazing band from the sixties. They were on the “High Fidelity” soundtrack and have been covered by the likes of Calexico. This is an amazing live version of my favourite tune by them.
4. Mates of State, These guys usually play free shows for Earth Day, which is mighty nice of them. This is their newest single; enjoy the explosive video with the anti climactic finale.
3. The Black Keys, This is one of those bands that I feel gets better with each album. I have yet to see them live, but I can’t wait. Letterman seems to really like them.
2. Of Montreal, This might be the band that has made the most appearances on the Pix; I’d have to double check. The drew mac dances in his mirror to this song when he thinks no one is watching.
1. Grizzly Bear, These guys are the darlings of the music geek circles I gravitate in right now. It’s just perfect pop music. They’re touring this summer, you should check ‘em out.
