Well the weather was finally amazing, Katie was actually in Halifax and the sports world gave me a nice present yesterday. All in all a really good day at Cuzoogle HQ.
Saturday began like most Saturdays do, me up early and working on the computer. I like to get some more close to home posts up on the weekend because I don’t want to lose the readers who were with me since the first day. You know, my mum, friends etc. who like to read what is going on in Halifax and not really interested in Jennifer Ellison’s birthday.
It is a balancing act of pleasing the masses who flood the blog with traffic and keeping that personal touch as well. Cuzoogle aims to please and hopefully is doing a good job.
Once a quick but comment driven post was up about the last movie you saw it was time to move on with the day.
That usually means a cooked breakfast. Scrambled eggs and toast was on the menu and of course my random and new ingredient I always try with my eggs. Katie does not really care what I put on her plate in the morning except for an omlette. This time I added some steak rub seasoning to the scrambled eggs and it gave them a nice kick.
After breakfast I took Bosco for his Saturday morning walk and ball chasing time. He gets a little more anxious and hyper on sunny days so I knew it was important to tire him out. Mission accomplished and he just spent the rest of the day laying around the house and the backyard.
Not that much was on the afternoon agenda other than Katie going to get her hair done and I was going to get some groceries. Groceries have become a little different now that Katie is working out of town during the week. It is funny, we are going to be back to how it was when we were in Toronto and living on our own. We will still cook and eat together on the weekends but during the weeks we will be back to eating all of those things we used to eat that the other person does not like that much.
I dropped Katie off downtown (where is was very busy) and then headed for the grocery store. It was pretty insane there as well, funny how sunshine brings everyone out of the house. I am sure the World Hockey Championships had a lot to do with the amount of people as well. A lot of people walking around with hockey jerseys on (well okay more than usual).
Hit the store for food and was home in decent time. While waiting for Katie to be done her hair i caught up on some TV that I had missed during the week and before I knew it she was calling for a ride. Back downtown, picked up Katie and her new hair and then back home.
Feeling the need to be outside I decided to clean out the car after a long winter of hauling wood around and throwing out all of the garbage that builds up in the car. The ol’ Malibu is pretty clean now and smells like car fabreeze.
Next up, one of my favourite parts of the day. It was BBQ time.
I picked up some sausage, corn and sweet potatoes at the store and had the grill in mind when I did it.
It was great to get outside, fire up the grill and smell the sweet scent of summer.
Dinner was some corn on the cob, sweet potato fries and Italian sausages in buns.
Everything came together great and it was a filling meal that had Katie asleep on the couch within the hour.
With a full belly of good food the next step in the day was the big hockey game. Game 5 between the Habs and Flyers was on and for those of you who don’t know I am a Flyers fan.
Yes Kevin I know, I have not been much of a hockey fan this year but it is not like I am jumping on a bandwagon.
The game was pretty exciting and in the end the Flyers sent the Canadiens home for the summer with a 6-4 win. Most likely the first hockey game I have watched from start to end all season but it was worth it.
Sorry to all of the Habs fans, hopefully Kyle won’t stop writing for the blog.
During this game I was flipping back and forth with the Magic/Pistons game. It was also pretty typical of an opening game of a series until Dwight Howard hurt his hand and then it was a blowout.
If D-12 is hurt bad this series will be a sweep.
Flyers win, check.
Pistons win, check.
Feeling like seeing more sports I debated on staying up to watch the Spurs and Hornets and cheering for Mo Pete. Keep in mind everyone that we in Atlantic Canada get everything later, so it was 11pm at this point and the long day and dinner was hitting me and I was getting sleepy.
I decided to see how the game went and play it by ear. Well the game was entertaining and all of the yellow shirts in the crowd kept me awake for at least the first quarter.
Then my night was snuffed out by fire extinguishers.
You see at the end of the first quarter the entertainment at the arena was the mascot jumping through a ring of fire and dunking the ball. Cool, great, he did it.
But.
The ring of fire would not go out as planned and they had to use fire extinguishers on it and all that crap that comes out is not exactly what you want on a hardwood floor when giant men are playing hoops on it.
So there was a 20 minute delay of players trying to stay loose, Charles and Kenny trying to fill time and me getting very bored and sleepy.
So I called it a night.
The Hornets ended up winning big and I can only imagine how pissed Pop was with the delay when the Spurs were playing good.
What a full day even though it did not seem like I did that much.
What will Sunday bring? I will tell you.

1Yeah that Ring of Fire was not only extinguished but so was the hot start the Spurs got off to. It looked like Duncan was joking around with Pop drawing up plays on a dry erase board, so not sure how phased they were
