Thanks to the musical ear of a man simply known as Kyle, every week Cuzoogle will feature six songs/videos that you should check out. This week Kyle is liking the sounds of Tricky, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Black Lips, Grand Archives, I Love You but I’ve Chosen Darkness and of course his No. 1 pick.
Full Frontal Edition
6. Tricky – “Council Estate”, So while Portishead is putting out music I love, but will end up in car commercials and Massive Attack songs are being remixed and covered for TV themes; Tricky is producing edgier, more political fare. This ode to the projects is the first track where Tricky handles the vocals all by himself. The video is a bit lame though.
5. Ned’s Atomic Dustbin – “Hibernation”, On the sixth edition of the Pix I made a joke that I would never revert back to my Jesus Jones listening days. This still holds true, but I liked these guys back then too. Luckily, Ned’s still holds up and it’s pretty ballsy of them to update the infamous Replacements “Bastards of Young” video. This one’s for you Drury, enjoy the hell out of summer!
4. Black Lips – “It Feels Alright”, The audio isn’t incredible on this version, but this one had more energy than the album version. Also, you get the lovely explanation that this song is about “a strip joint”. Some times the little in store gigs can be amazing, even if the video doesn’t reflect it.
3. Grand Archives – “Torn Blue Foam Couch”, I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that Cuzoogle likes this band. Members from this band used to be in Band of Horses, “our” favourite band. These guys play the El Mo next week and I’m psyched!
2. I Love You but I’ve Chosen Darkness – “Your Worst is Your Best”, If the urban myth holds any validity, this band got their name from an episode title of “One Tree Hill”. I really hope that’s an inside joke. The video is scenes from an Australian flick called “Somersault”, which is about the difference between love and sex in a young girl’s life. For some reason, I really like Aussie movies. I would say thanks to the person who made me aware of this track, but they wouldn’t be caught dead watching music videos, so I doubt they would be reading this.
1. Sigur Ros – “Goobledigook”, Now you can probably find this video on the YouTube, but it will be gone as soon as we post a link to it. That’s right kids; we have a first for the Pix…FULL FRONTAL NUDITY!!! The song and video are available as downloads and I believe you can watch the video here.

Kyle I can see why you think Cuzzy would like Grand Archives, potential after just one listen. Will check out more. Thanks
