Jose Calderon injured in Spain victory
Posted by Cuzzy as NBA, Sports, Toronto Raptors, olympicsWhile watching the daily wrap of Olympic action one of the broadcasts mentioned at the end of the basketball pack that Jose Calderon, PG of Spain, was injured and it was not known how bad. Being a Raptors fan my mind instantly thought the worst and how it would hurt the Toronto Raptors.
It is amazing how hard it was to find more on this but sure enough you can always bank on learning more on the website for the guy who actually got hurt.
This is from Jose Calderon’s site.
With respect to myself, my only concern is the small pull that I felt in the groin almost at the end of the game. I feel a little soreness in the affected area, but until tomorrow I will not know the extent of the possible injury. We will have to wait a few hours to see how is the injury evolving, and depending on the results, we will know if I can play or not. In any case, with Ricky and Raul, the PG position is well covered and the team is prepared for any absence.
Okay just as I was typing all of that an updated story from the Toronto Star popped up.
The Raptors are once again watching the Spanish basketball federation’s actions concerning an injured player. This time it’s point guard Jose Calderon, who suffered what Toronto officials called a “strained adductor” during Spain’s Olympic quarter-final win over Croatia yesterday.
A groin injury is not exactly the best injury to get while in the NBA offseason so hopefully Calderon thinks of his day job and not his country before trying to play when he should not. Sadly as Raptors fans have learned before with Spanish players, they hold their National team much higher than the NBA.
Get better Jose! You won the keys to the car so you better have the wheels to drive it.
There should be more news on just how serious the injury is today.
On another Olympic basketball note it was great to see Carlos Delfino sticking all those threes in the Argentina win. I know he made Raptors nation pull out their hair at times but I think I will miss him.
