Every week T-Roc will share his thoughts on what is going on in college football, make picks and fire back at your nasty comments. Want to learn more about him, check out his first post or visit his archive.

Elections a fucking-go-go. As if a Canadian federal election isn’t enough by itself, it coincides with the madness of a U.S. pissing contest. And the municipal election is the shitty icing on the shitcake we’ve been served here on the East Coast.

Speaking of the latter, there’s a “Meet the candidates” function being offered… on Friday night. Yeah, I’m interested in knowing who I can vote for, but do they seriously expect a sober crowd on a weekend night? I’m going just for the chance fights’ll break out.

On Saturday I’ll “elect” to sit my arse on the couch and watch as much college ball as possible. I’m not betting the game, but Alabama-Georgia gives me more of a woody than those photoshopped Sarah Palin bikini & gun pics.

That said, MP Ruby Dhalla might take the top prize for wood induction. Hmm. How ‘bout a “Hottest Canadian politicians” post there, Cuzzy? Might as well make the election entertaining for a few of us…

All numbers are from Pinnaclesports.com from Tuesday night.

Minnesota at Ohio State, Saturday, noon ET: Ohio State -17 ½

Is Ohio State football about to get sexy for the first time this year? I’ll say yes, so long as a three-touchdown win over the Golden Gophers counts as “sexy”. I can’t shake the notion that this spread would’ve been more like 27 ½ if it were Week 1.

The Buckeyes should have Beanie Wells and Terrelle Pryor in tandem on ‘O’, but their ‘D’ will rule the day. I can’t ignore the 78-3 combined score in OSU’s favour for Minny’s last two visits to the Horseshoe.

Arkansas State at Memphis, Saturday, 2 p.m. ET: Arkansas State -1

Subsequent weeks have lessened the “Wow!” factor of Arkansas State’s upset at Texas A&M in the season’s opening weekend, but the Red Wolves remain an underrated team.

Memphis was hyped for its offensive potential last summer, but the passing game only impressed against Rice. Arkansas State has the offensive balance to carry the day as Saturday’s favourite.

Wisconsin at Michigan, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET: Wisconsin -6

Speaking of favourites, Wisconsin’s in a weird role this week. Michigan’s embarrassing start leaves the Wolverines whimpering in the Big (dog)House.

Rich Rodriguez refers to the start of UM’s Big Ten schedule as a “second season”, but there’s nothing from the Wolverines’ first season that gives me hope for a turnaround on Saturday. The Badgers have impressed in all three games this year - make it four and make me some money!

Navy at Wake Forest, Saturday, 3:45 p.m. ET: Wake Forest -16

Fantastic coach, the nation’s best turnover ratio and a top-notch kicker don’t hurt. But the Deacs’ offense is the key - Wake is 19-10 against the spread since Riley Skinner stepped in at QB.

The 2008 offensive stats aren’t eye-popping, but how many other teams have played nothing but BCS-conference opponents? Navy’s last road game saw Duke scoring 41 - Saturday in Winston-Salem should see Wake top that with ease.

Troy at Oklahoma State, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET: Oklahoma State -16 ½

No chance of a repeat of last year’s upset in Troy. This year’s Cowboys look fantastic and the Trojans are a step down from last year’s Sun Belt favourites. OSU looks as dangerous offensively as nearly anyone in the Big 12, which is saying something.

I like the chances of a 40-point turnaround from Troy’s 41-23 win in ‘07. Superior talent and a desire for revenge are the Cowboys’ keys.

Nevada at UNLV, Saturday, 10 p.m. ET: Nevada +3

Both Nevada and UNLV have played ranked schools on the road this year, but I’m not putting much stock in either result: the Wolf Pack lost by 52 to Mizzou, a team that could beat either NFL franchise in Missouri right now; the Rebels upset an Arizona State squad already looking ahead to its game with Georgia.

Luke Lippincott injury and early 2008 results notwithstanding, I still think Nevada has the better team at Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday night.
