We are a hoops blog so baseball does not rank that high in terms of importance. That being said the World Series starts tonight and we had to weigh in. Since we don’t watch that much MLB we turned to someone who does. This is a guest post from Casey, a huge fan of “America’s game” and as you will read, all that comes with sitting back and watching. Be nice, she is a yoga teacher and has mystical powers you don’t want to mess with.

Anbody’s Guess by Casey Rock

I started off the series rooting for the Twins. Then the White Sox. Then the Cubs. Then the Dodgers. Never the Red Sox since they began to think they deserved it. Yeah, I didn’t really want either of these teams we’ve ended up with. The Phillies because I can hold a grudge (just in baseball )– for a very, very long time and The Rays, because…because I just plain resent Florida and all their sunshine.

I get irritated looking at the people behind home plate with their great tans, sleek hair and sleeveless shirts. How can you even think World Series without autumn in the air - turkey sandwiches and beer in front of the tv?

Nonetheless - I am into it cause I have to be. As you know, it can feel like an eternity before your favourite sport rolls around again. And actually these teams made me like them. Brad Lidge is awesome and Shane Victorino has the most hilarious name in the playoffs. And what Jays fan didn’t shriek at New Brunwicker
Matt Stairs’ l-o-n-g ball

And I have definitely come to like the Rays- long after Jackson told me I should. BJ Upton and Carl Crawford are complete cuties. Sorry about that - it’s just plain true. They are an exciting team to watch.
I also like watching both managers - Manuel and Maddon. They are so much cooler than Francona.
I think this should be fun. I have absolutely no idea who will win - but I’ll watch as much as I can.
With beer. Missed the turkey this year, goddamn it.
