Pistons at Raptors
Well as if this game did not need any more spice added to the recipe. The Pistons and Raptors are both undefeated, Chris Bosh is the NBA player of the week and now you add in Allen Iverson to the mix and tonight’s game has become larger than life. If Iverson does play, this game will be the most watched matchup of the night in the league and that gives the Raps a great shot and showing what they are all about.
Toronto, who is 3-0 and climbing the charts on the various power rankings around the league, can’t worry about the whole Iverson thing and just keep doing what they are doing. The team has had some issues in the first week and they need to be addressed moving forward. Slow starts and rebounding problems were overcome in the first few games but against a Pistons team, those problems will add up to a loss for sure.
Chris Bosh averaged 22.5 points and 10.7 rebounds in four games versus Detroit last season but he usually has problems when Rasheed Wallace is guarding him. Now with JO added to the mix, it will be interesting to see how the Pistons matchup. Either Bosh or O’Neal should be able to go to town against Amir Johnson, so expect to see a lot of Maxiell.
As much as it is a good thing that Billips is gone, Rodney Stuckey has killed the Raps and we expect that to continue. He is faster and stronger than Calderon and this will be a key area for Detroit to exploit.
AP will do a decent job on chasing around RIP or AI but he will need help. As always the Toronto bench has to offer up something tonight for any chance at a win. Bargnani and Kapono need to stretch the defense with threes so Bosh and JO can work their magic down low.
Who is going to come out on top of this battle of 3-0 teams? Normally I would say Detroit but with the Raps at home, well rested and hopefully ready to man up tonight, we are going to go with an unlikely Raps win, 99-90. Call us crazy but there you have it.

Hopefully the AI show will disrupt the rest of the pistons!

I think the AI deal makes the Pistons an even tougher matchup. I’m picturing a lot of ‘Sheed in the high post to bring O’Neal / CB4 out of the key and non-stop drives & backdoor cuts from AI, Rip and Stuckey.
But maybe I should stop being so pessimistic. I’ll take a cue from our neighbours to the south - “Can we beat the Pistons?” “YES WE CAN!”
