America is voting as I type this and by the time Cuzzy puts it on the interwebs, we’ll know who gets to lead the world’s top porn-exporting country.
It coincides nicely with my sojourn Stateside this weekend. As I’m travelling through New England and spending the bulk of my time in Boston’s student ghettos, I’m counting on one of two reactions from locals:
(A) if Obama’s campaign meets polling expectations, it’ll be like Zion in Matrix: Reloaded, with multiracial crowds dancing to shitty trance in the streets and the promise of topless chicks around every corner despite the autumn chill in the air; or
(B) if the Christian right shows up in huge numbers and McCain wins, I’ll be bombarded with questions about how to take up full-time Canadian residency (e.g. “Are you guys really that boring?” and “Are the hospital waiting room lineups as bad as I hear?”)
Either way, it’ll be an interesting weekend to be in the U.S. of A. Not to sound biased, but I’d much rather see titties than make small talk with depressed hippies.
All numbers are from Pinnaclesports.com from Tuesday evening.
Northern Illinois at Ball State, Wednesday, 8 p.m. ET: Ball State -9 ½
Big-time battle between a pair of western MAC daddies. NIU stomped a good Toledo team by 31 points a couple weeks ago. So did Ball State, only the Cardinals did it on the road.
Ball State has scored 35-plus points in every home game this year while the Huskies’ sole road win came against a weak Eastern Michigan squad. The Cards fly again, only this time on national TV.
TCU at Utah, Thursday, 8 p.m. ET: TCU -2
The line looks like a lack of respect - the home team, one of the nation’s handful of undefeated squads, is the underdog? Say what you will, I’m jumping on TCU before the line reaches a field goal.

Maybe I’m too influenced by the woeful Utah offence from last weekend, but I’ve been wowed by the Horned Frogs ‘D’ since the loss to OU. I don’t count on seeing a happy home crowd during Thursday night’s better game.
Nevada at Fresno State, Friday, 9 p.m. ET: Nevada +2 ½
Fresno State made quick work of its “BCS-buster” reputation this fall and has allowed 38.5 points per game since the 13-10 home loss to Wisconsin that earned the Bulldogs respect at the time but now looks far less impressive.
Even worse, Fresno State is 0-7 against the spread since beating Rutgers in its opener. Nevada’s Colin Kaepernick is coming off a rest week and has the exact skill set to lead the Wolf Pack to a 40-plus point game on hostile turf.
Kansas at Nebraska, Saturday, 2:30 p.m. ET: Kansas -1 ½
In the “What have you done for me lately?” scheme of things, last week’s results reminded me too much of last year’s 76-39 KU win in this series.

The ‘Huskers could bounce back from a lopsided defeat, like the Jayhawks did last week. The problem is that long-time punching bags like Missouri and Kansas enjoy beating Nebraska too much to look past the Huskers on the schedule.
Arizona at Washington State, Saturday, 5 p.m. ET: Arizona -41
I didn’t think twice about laying 43 points with USC visiting Wazzu. Now it gets interesting. Just how shitty IS this Cougars team?
Well, pretty fucking shitty. They’re 0-8 against the spread this year and they’ve lost to five of their six Pac-10 opponents by at least 49 points, including a 58-0 defeat at Stanford last week. Now come the rested Wildcats. I’ll ride this streak for another week.
Notre Dame at Boston College, Saturday, 8 p.m. ET: Boston College -3 ½
The Holy War in prime time and I’m missing it, catching a Bruins game instead. When every alum of either school is forking over major moolah for tickets, guys like me are left out in the cold. Now I hope the weather’s shitty for those posh fuckers.

Neither school has chalked up a ‘wow’ win this year, but I have more faith in the home team with the 20-game non-conference win streak. But I’ll also bet against the Bruins against Saturday night. Boston can’t have it all.
Last week: 1-5 ATS
