It was only a matter of time before the power started to shift in the NBA. The West is still the best but the East has the NBA champ and a lot of reason to be excited that they will soon be the power conference. It goes through cycles and thanks to some coaching changes, roster moves and the explosion of young talent, the Eastern Conference is no longer a joke.

Here are seven reasons why the East is becoming more of beast.

Mike D’Antoni taking over the Knicks - The NBA wants the Knicks to be better badly just because of the huge media market. Thanks to bringing in D’Antoni, that should happen sooner than expected.

Elton Brand moving east. Adding a 20 and 10 guy to the conference is sure to help and once the chemistry gets worked out the Sixers should be a strong club.

Allen Iverson rejoining the conference. He is back! One of the best players and competitors ever returns to the East to make the Pistons a legit contender once again.

A healthy and motivated D-Wade. Miami was a joke last year and dragged the East down with it. Now D-Wade is back and looking as dominating as he was before his injury-plagued season in 2007-08. The Heat are going to be right there fighting for a postseason slot.

Drastic improvement of Atlanta. The seven game series with the Celtics was no fluke. Keep an eye out for the Hawks. They are deep, athletic and defensive minded.

Mo Williams joining King James. Cleveland is flying under the radar so far and that is shocking since they have LeBron James. Adding a real point guard just might be what this team needs to get over the hump.

The rookie class including Rose and Beasley. Derrick Rose is looking like an All-Star and Michael Beasley is a beast in the making. These two players will be two of the best in the East in only a few seasons.
