Denver Nuggets at Toronto Raptors

Back to the ACC finally! Seems like a month since the Raps got to wear the home jerseys. That of course is the good news. The bad news is, the three teams they play on this home stand are awesome. Is it just me or is the Raps sked stacked full of the best of the best? I know it is not true because they pissed away a few easy ones out west but come on. Denver, Houston and Orlando all in a row? Not fair.

My only hope is the Raps shocked us all last New Year’s Eve, winning in New Orleans and maybe, just maybe the Nuggets will be too busy thinking of partying in TO and not worrying about the Raps. The guy who will kill us once again will be Mr. Big shot. He will own Calderon and that is too much to overcome.

Here is hoping all of Raptors nation has a great night and that your enjoyment is not based on the Raptors winning a game.

  • Carmelo Anthony shot 4-for-17 in a 109-91 loss at Atlanta Monday night.
  • The Raptors have lost 12 of their last 16 games.
  • Jay Triano is 4-10 since taking over for the fired Sam Mitchell.
  • The Raptors are 5-8 at home after going 55-27 the previous two seasons. They’re in danger of losing four straight at Air Canada Centre for the first time since a five-game skid March 29-April 9, 2006.
  • The Nuggets have won three of their last four games in Toronto, and eight of nine overall against the Raptors since the beginning of the 2004-05 season.
  • Chauncey Billups had 24 points and 14 assists in Denver’s 132-93 home win over Toronto on Dec. 2 - the fifth-worst loss in Raptors franchise history and tied for the fifth-largest win in Nuggets history.

Prediction

Hard to really pick the Raps to win. They have given me no reason to be optimistic. JO is in and out of the lineup and the Raps don’t know how to stop the three ball. Nuggest win easy, 103-88. Happy New Year….boo.
