Houston Rockets at Toronto Raptors
Is the season over yet? Another night, another quality team ready to beat down the Raptors and expose every weakness they have. The current Raptors team is not fun to watch and to be honest I am hoping for a big shake up very soon. It is a different group every night thanks to injuries and players who can’t string two good games together in a row. Will Solomon is making me pray for the return of D-Mart for God’s sake. I will watch because I am a sucker for pain but I have little hope that the Raps will win a game any time soon.
Here is everything you need to know for tonight’s game.
The Goods
- After averaging 109.5 points and shooting 53.6 percent from the field during a four-game win streak from Dec. 16-22, Houston has been held to 92.2 points per game and 39.8 percent shooting over its last five contests.
- The Rockets also blew a 16-point lead in a double-overtime win over Utah on Saturday night.
- That’s a familiar theme for the Raptors, who have lost 13 of 17 games to sink to the bottom of the Atlantic Division.
- The Raptors have dropped four straight at home, where they’re 5-9. They were 25-16 at Air Canada Centre last season, and 30-11 there in 2006-07.
- Toronto has won four of its last five home games against Houston, defeating the Rockets 93-80 in the most recent such matchup Dec. 9.
- Chris Bosh will be a marked man again if Houston doesn’t have to worry about Jermaine O’Neal. The six-time All-Star missed Toronto’s last game with a sore right knee and is day-to-day.
For Bettors
- Over is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings in Toronto.
- Over is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings.
- Rockets are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings.
- Rockets are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Toronto.
Prediction
I have no reason at all to think the Raptors can win a game. It will go like this. The Raps will play a strong first half and be in the game with 10 or so minutes left and then Chris Bosh will start to jack up threes and Houston will put it away. Seems to be the trend. Even my mother asked me the other day why the Raptors start to suck at the exact same spot every night. Houston wins 105-95.
