Time to look back and celebrate
Straight from the Cuz
Hard to believe it has been a year already since we started up this little project called Cuzoogle.com. This time last year I would of never dreamed that a little blog that was initially started to keep in touch with family and friends could grow into something that is so much fun and addictive to work on.
So to celebrate everyone here at Cuzoogle is taking the rest of the day off to relax and reflect on all the good and the bad of the past year.
While we do that, he is a little recap of the first year of Cuzoogle.
It all began at the beginning of 2008 thanks to the wonderful people at Sports Direct (covers.com) deciding to lay off a whole bunch of people and in doing so, freeing up a lot of time for me.
While looking for a real job, the blog slowly became a time consuming love that allowed me to feel a little less useless and helped me take all of those jazzy transferable skills I got from my last job and put them to work for me and only me.

This year we posted over 2000 times, brought in almost two million page views and DnScoop lists the site’s value at $114,536.00

It has been a wild ride that leaves me today a much happier, richer and more successful person than I ever would of been if I was still working those 12 hour days at good ol’ Covers.com.
So many people have helped and so many great things have come out of this adventure. I can’t even begin to thank everyone, so if I leave you out, it is not on purpose. I appreciate all of the links, advice, stumbles, diggs and emails to tell me to fix my spelling.

I have taken down servers, left two hosting companies and had one amazing theme change that has truly made the blog look legit in the industry.
The blog has enjoyed time on the front page of Digg, many links to SI.com’s Hot Clicks, several links from Ball Don’t Lie and even on Deadspin.
This may not be a huge deal but to me it has been a blast to see my stuff linked to such large sites and it will never get old.
It is so great to hear back from readers and fans and it really makes you feel good when the likes of USA Today sends you a note that you made them laugh.

We want thank all of the advertisers we have worked with and look forward to bigger and better things once the economy makes a turn for the better.
I get to deal with so many awesome people doing this on a daily basis, I only wish I started earlier in the blog game.
So what does the future look like for Cuzoogle? Well I am hoping it only goes upward and onward. I have carved out my own space in the market and am really pleased how things are going.
I would like to find some help in terms of creating more content and finding good people to share it all with. It is funny how many offers I have gotten from people who want to write and submit stuff and they never do, or quit after a few weeks.
Those who do it, know that blogging is not all fun and games and it is a lot of hard work no matter how a site appears to the outside world.

I am thankful to all of the readers that check us out everyday and to all the people who link to us and help build the following.
In particular, I need to thank Bryan of GrandmasterB and Jeff of Buzz My Blog for being my IT wizards and the guys behind how the blog looks and runs. I have spent many hours working with them on so many issues that I owe them so much. So if you need a new theme, logo, software, WordPress help etc., they are the two to get in touch with.
So time to start out on a new year and it should be more of a challenge now that there are not great deals out there to get from advertisers. Hopefully when I check in again next year to celebrate year two, things are much better for all of us.
Again, thanks for your support and keep doing what you are doing.
