Its Opening Day! One of my favorite days of the year. Today most Major League Baseball teams will kick off the season. With that I will make my predictions for each league plus a few predictions for the major awards.

Over the next few days I will be posting some of my predictions for the year of 09′. I’d love to hear what you think and your comments.

Today it is the AL East AL East.

2009 Predictions

AL East Champs: NY Yankees - Yeah I know I picked the Yankees Boo! I don’t like them like a lot of people outside of NY. Yet have you checked out their Pitching Staff. Here is there 1 through 5

1. C.C. Sabathia - This guy was clearly the most dominant pitcher in the game last year and of course the Yankees won the Free Agent Spending Spree. He may not be quite as good as last year and the City of NY and its atmosphere won’t help much either.

2. Chien Ming Wang - This guy is one of the best pitchers in baseball. His sinker is so nasty. Wang has been there in the past when the Yankees staff has been lack luster. I look for him to have a solid season with other are now here on the team to help.

3. A.J. Burnett - A..J. is a good power pitcher and I would love to have him on my team “The Tigers”, however I really feel they have overpaid for him. He might have a great year but in my mind this guy has great stuff but will never have the numbers to keep backing up that stuff. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong we’ll see. But to have him as your #3 or 2 starter is a great sign of pitching depth that the Yankees feature.

There are 3 reasons right there that the Yankees have a great chance to win plus adding Andy Pettitte, Joba Chamberlain & Philip Hughes to the mix. It’s still up in the air on where Joba will pitcher. I feel they should keep him in the pen but we’ll have to see.

I know the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Devil Rays both play in the AL East yet I strongly feel its the Yankees year to win the Division.

But I never said they would do much in the playoffs! If the Yankees win the Division this means the wild card will more than likely come from the AL East as well. I feel that Boston has the upper edge yet Tampa is a popular pick with the great season they had last year. I just feel some of there players will fall off a bit this season.

Final Predictions
- Yankees Win the AL East (They will go 93-69)
