Good morning, it is a cold and rainy Sunday morning and it seems like forever since I checked in with the Cuzoogle nation.
Over the last few months A LOT has gone on in my life (for the good) and one of the areas that has taken a back seat has been the blog. It is still pulling in decent numbers and I still enjoy doing it but it has become very hard to find the time to put a lot of quality into it.
I am sure for those who follow Cuzoogle you have noticed a drop off in content and the amount of posts that come out daily.
Here is everything that has been going on over the last eight or nine weeks that has the Cuzoogle engines stalling more often than not.
At the end of January, I landed a job back in the work force that in a lot of ways was directly because of blogging. That was very cool and so far, everything has worked out great. I love the job and am learning a lot of skills that will advance my career and when I find the time, this blog.
A week later the Cuzoogle family found out we would be having a kid in the fall and that will really have a say on the blogging time as the year goes on.
House hunting is starting now and that chips away even more at the time and energy for blogging.
All great reasons to not have the time to blog.
Throw in freelance work, sleeping and all that other stuff and now you know why the blog is slowing down. There are others who do help out here and there but essentially I run this baby on my own and for anyone who runs a successful blog, you know it is a full time job.
Sure posts can be fired out anytime but the quality and creativeness suffers. The last few weeks I have felt like I just post for the sake of posting and that just does not cut it.
I do feel fortunate that Cuzoogle has been up and running for over a year and has built up a solid fan base and great Google power.
That can all go away very fast if it is not kept up. I am still trying to figure it all out and how to manage my time.
The Toronto Raptors having the horrible season they are has not helped. They are kind of the backbone and inspiration that makes me want to blog and when you don’t care about that, it makes it harder.
Three day weekends seem to be best for getting caught up on the blogging and social media but sadly they only come a long once a month.
Why am I telling you all this? Well for two reasons really.
One, I feel like I need to explain why things may not appear to be as good as it was. Why I don’t get to as many link dumps, or photoshopped posters or even days when I don’t post at all.
Life has stepped in and now it is up to me to figure out how to make it all work. Obviously, a child on the way, a new job and everything to do with my daily life outranks the blog but I do want to keep it in the mix.
I love running this blog and it is a part of who I am.
Secondly, I am always up for anyone who wants to help out. Guest posts, regular contributions or any other forms of joining the Cuzoogle team would be great.
It is a great time to step up because the more and more I lose time, it gives someone a great chance to get their stuff out there and if it works out, make some money. Contact me if you have any interest or want to bounce and idea off me.
I had a year where I was working from home and had the time to grow this blog and now that I am back to work full time, I am pretty impressed by all my other fellow bloggers who have kids, family stuff, full time jobs and still find the time to run big-time, successful blogs.
That makes me ask this question.
Don’t worry, I can’t track your answers, I am just very curious.
Thanks for listening, it feels good to share.
Now I have to go and think up a long list of new posts for the week.
