Now this is the kind of thing that can keep the NBA offseason interesting!
Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Boston Celtics offered the Detroit Pistons two of their best players but not at a very cheap price. The report states the Celtics offered Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo to the Pistons for a package that included Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey.
Talk about blockbuster.
Despite the intriguing option of adding another expiring contract (Allen) and a young star (Rondo), the Pistons immediately shot down the offer.
Good move by the Pistons. Allen is getting old and Stuckey is going to only get better.
To give up Prince (who would flourish elsewhere), Rip and Stuckey, the Pistons better be getting back more than just Rondo and Ray Ray.
What do you think? Even though the trade got shot down, do you think the Pistons made the right call?

Although every move which Joe Dumars makes doesn’t turn into gold immediately … e.g. Darko & the Billups/Iverson trade … he is by no means a stupid GM.
Shame on Danny Ainge for thinking it was April Fool’s Day in June.

I think this shows just how good everyone in the league believes Stuckey is gonna be…
Ainge trying to dump Jesus Shuttleworth’s megabuxx deal… how pricey (and old) a backcourt would Allen and AI be?
Cuzzy - how about the T-Wolves / Wizards deal that seems to be actually happening? I can understand Minny starting over, but what’s Washington up to? Are they still going to be paying Antawn Jamieson next spring? Who’ll take on that salary?
The Wizards will go nowhere as long as they have a 100 million dollar blogger on their team.
The Spurs are pretty active as well.
