Astronaut Koichi Wakata is returning to Earth with the underwear he kept on for an entire month during his space station stay and now scientists will get to check them out.
Before you think that is just sick, they’re experimental high-tech undies, designed in Japan to be odour free.
We can think of a few people in our life that could of used those.
The Japanese underwear, called J-Wear, is a new type of anti-bacterial, water-absorbent, odour-eliminating clothing designed for space travel. The line includes shirts, pants and socks as well.
J-Wear is billed as being antistatic and flame retardant, which is especially important for spaceship wear. The cotton and polyester clothes are also seamless, making them lighter and more comfortable, according to the Japanese Space Agency.
Now if only they offered these at the GAP for all of us to wear.
Then again, maybe we don’t need a solid excuse not to do laundry anymore.

I love that they’re also flame-retardant. So if you crap your pants in space AND suddenly your console catches on fire, you’re all good.
