Well so much for all the predictions. Both the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs lost their openers today and now find themselves in a hole they don’t want to be in. The Lakers, I am not that worried about. They have a switch and they know they can beat the New Orleans Hornets in a series. However, the Spurs are in trouble if Manu Ginobli does not return fast.
The Memphis Grizzlies are a hungry bunch and today their playoff experienced vets stepped up. They are no longer a pushover in the playoffs, these Grizzlies are for real and have had the Spurs number all season.
The West is wide open and these two series certainly showcase that. Yes it is one game, but the difference between one through eight is not that much. Anything can happen and that is why they play the game.
The next game for each will be the telling tale. I fully expect Kobe Bryant to lay into his team before Game 2 and the Lakers will be okay. The Spur need to slow down the Grizz and not let the series drop to 0-2 heading back to Memphis.
The Spurs have been free falling for awhile now and it would not be shocking to see them get dumped right out of the postseason. They look old and are getting out worked by the Grizzlies.
Game 2s, I see both the Lakers and Spurs getting wins and for L.A. it will be the start of a run. They just needed a wake up call to get this postseason going.
The Spurs, after watching today, they are in for a long, long series and I don’t know if they have what it takes to get the job done.
Hey at least the Spurs covered the 6.5-point spread in Game 1.
