Looking to buy a NBA franchise? Well if so, the Philadelphia 76ers are up for sale. You better hurry though as it looks like it will move fast. After all, those studying Sportsbook patterns will tell you that it is one of the NBA franchises with history, a NBA title and in a sporting loving city.

Sports betting pundits note how Ed Snider and Comcast-Spectacor have owned the Sixers since 1996, but it was confirmed Tuesday that there are ongoing discussions about the team’s future. Actually as it turns out there has been a deal in the works for many months but it is only being made public now.
Right now the main bidder is a Joshua Harris-led group but they are not the only possible suitors. Jason Levien, a former NBA player agent and executive for the Sacramento Kings is also rumoured to be going after Philly.
Again, if you are looking to be an owner, here is what you are up against. Comcast, which is the nation’s largest pay TV provider and owner of most of NBC Universal, won’t be happy with chump change. They own the Sixers and the Flyers as well as the Wells Fargo Center. That means they want big money to give up the Sixers and the revenue that the team brings in.
So what are the 76ers valued at? Forbes lists the Sixers at $330 million which ranks them 17th in the NBA. I would of figured they would be much higher but it is an Eagles town a the end of the day.
Also it does not help that the Sixers have not that much. They made it to the NBA Finals in 2001 and were riding the wave of Allen Iverson. But since AI left town, the team has been searching for a new identity. They are a town that loves the larger than life star, IE. Iverson, Charles Barkley and even Wilt Chamberlain back in the day.
The hiring of Doug Collins has them back on track and the team is young and exciting to watch. It will be interesting to see how a sale could influence the on court Sixers. The possible labour stoppage also plays into the future of the team as well.
Then again it could all fall through. Comcast-Spectacor has tried to sell the team before in 2006. There were no major parties interested and it was never said what the actual sale price was.
So, now that you know the details, are you still interested in buying the Sixers?
