After reading today’s 5-on-5 for the Toronto Raptors on ESPN, I felt like I needed to weigh in and come off the bench. Shout out to Sam for representing.

Here are the 5 questions asked with my answers. Keep in mind I am pretty sarcastic and a little out of touch. I know more about defending a toddler from his favourite book than what the Raptors are up to.

1. Fact or Fiction: The Raptors were wise to draft Jonas Valanciunas?

Fact: I wanted Kemba Walker bad but he would not of been a fit for the Raptors. They need a big monster in the middle to clear space, play hard D and get rebounds. That way the soft Italian dough boy can float around and score 30 points/game. It was once again a shitty draft to have a high pick and the Raptors took a risk. It looks like with no season, it was an even smarter move for BC since Jonas was not coming into the fold anyways. He has looked good on YouTube clips, let’s hope he is not the second coming of Darko.

2. Fact or Fiction: Toronto has a future All-Star on its roster?

Fact: Demar is gonna do it. He is a sponge for hoops and his god-given abilities are Vince-like. His only downfall will be making it on a shitty team. Maybe if they change the format to the most “likes” or “retweets” DeMar will get voted in. Also keep in mind he will probably be on another team in 4-5 years when he hits his peak and that equals All-Star. Regardless of whether he makes it, my wife says he has a killer name and that is all that matters.

3. Fact or Fiction: The Raptors’ recent strategy of finding and featuring top international talent has worked out well for them?

Fiction: Tooooo much euro for my taste. I have been saying go American for years and they did draft a few. Collect March Madness heroes and villains and use the Euro to be the glue. The problem is the US kids don’t want to be in Toronto - which is crazy. Toronto is a kick ass city to be a 22-year old rich guy. So I would say it has not worked out but then again, little has worked out so can we really blame the euros?

4. Fact or Fiction: Toronto should do all it can to sign Tyson Chandler.

Fiction with a capital Forget it: Do not do this. Yes last year would of been nice but TC has his ring and it will be a giant waste of time. He works hard and is a great team guy but he is old, creaky and has lost the hunger. Go younger and build from within.

5. Fact or Fiction: It’ll be years before the Raps recover from losing Bosh?

Fact: It would of been years before the Raps did anything with Bosh. Remember, they did not win a whole lot with him and he was not a number 1 guy. He is proving that in Miami. I was big on Bosh in TO and wanted him to stay and win but he was not a money player. So to say they will not recover from it is hard. I think with the right moves and the right luck you can overcome anything. He was not Michael Jordan.
