Well for a few days I have been hearing about this Facebook Timeline and how it is going to change everything. There have been other tweaks to the social network site that has people losing their shit but this Timeline business seems to be bigger than everything.

So I finally decided to check it out and take the plunge. Change is good right? I admit that the newest feature adds have left me feeling like a kid dropped in a foreign country and it took a bit to find the comforts of home. It took minutes to find the most obvious needs the other day and I thought I was somewhat of a tech guy.

Anyways, Timeline. So Mashable has a post the guides you through changing your Facebook page to the new look and feel that should be fully pushed in 2 to 3 weeks. If you switch now, you will only be seen by others who have switched because it is through Facebook’s developer site.

Looks pretty easy, no going back, time to get it done.

The whole process took a few minutes and the only thing to be aware of is you will probably have to prove it is your Facebook account by confirming by text or credit card number. That is the only thing that took any thought at all.

There are less than 10 steps and bam, the new Timeline is live.

Watch the slideshow on how to change over here.

What is the most obvious change right off the bat is the two columns. I have no idea what is being pulled into them at the moment but there seems to be a lot of info on the page now. You can add a “cover” to your wall or what basically is a giant photo that goes on the top. This will be a great feature for people to show off some photography as the photo is nice and giant - letterbox style.

From what I hear the whole page is supposed to show off your whole life timeline and I am curious as to how this will happen. I did take a peak at a few years back and it is funny to see photos, what groups I joined and even what blog posts I did. It kind of made me feel old and that I have spent a great deal of time online.

I am sure there is a lot of customizing to do but I will just have to pick away at that and have it all ready for when this beast goes live in a few weeks.

I will say it is nice to have a heads up that this is all going to happen. That would of been one mind blowing moring to login and go WTF Facebook. Yes I know it is a free service that I can stop using at any point but I have never been a fan of leaving what I know.

So what are your thoughts? Have you tried out Timeline yet?
