Not about bagging groceries apparently.
Grocery shopping is a necessary evil for most. Sure we love having a fully stocked kitchen but the act of getting it from the store can be a real chore. One thing I hate is the overall decrease in front end customer service. How often have you had to bag your own groceries or wait forever for someone to do it?
Sure it is not that hard but it seems like a service that should be taken seriously when we spend so much of our time and money in a store.
Your interaction with the cashier at the end of the trip is what makes or breaks the experience in my opinion.
Anyways, a friend of mine recently reached his breaking point and submitted this letter to his local Shaw’s grocery store.

Dearest Shaw’s,
Please tell me how much extra I have to pay to have my groceries bagged by one of those Shaw’s employees whose job description lists grocery bagging . I mistakenly thought having my groceries bagged by a shaw’s employee was my right as a valued customer after spending $200 dollars in your store on a weekly basis.
Obviously while I’m standing there like a shmuck bagging the groceries myself, as the customer behind me with an equally large grocery order is rolling his/her eyes while a perfectly capable employee stands idly by discussing his latest accomplishments in world of warcraft, or perhaps exciting events in the latest episode of Glee, I learn that having my groceries bagged is a privilege that I have yet to earn.
So yes, please do tell me, what might I have to do or what sum might I have to pay to have my groceries bagged on a recurring basis. Perhaps I need to look less capable, like the elderly woman in the aisle next to me whose total order of 3 cans of creamed corn was being happily bagged by a shaws employee?
I guess bagging a 200 dollar order of groceries one handed while I hold my infant daughter in one arm is not grounds for bagging assistance. I don’t want to submit my complaint without providing some suggestion towards a solution so I humbly suggest you stop printing off 300 yards of useless receipts and coupons for every customer and put that money you would save on paper towards a proper staff of grocery bagging associates.
Enjoy.
