Do you shop local? Did you know on Nov. 26 there is a planned Small Business Saturday that is trying to generate interest for everyone to go local. Well it’s true.
The purpose of the day is to get people to make a pledge to shop small on Small Business Saturday. If millions of people shop small, it will be huge. The idea is to create as big a buzz as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I think it is a great idea. The local vendors are the life of any city.
I love shopping local when possible and since moving out to the burbs of Halifax, it has become harder and harder. Heading to the market for local food has become more of a treat than a habit.
Same for going out for dinner. We live in big box land so it is a special treat to go to one of the local establishments that feature food from the area. I would suggest Brooklyn Warehouse.
Now as far as I can tell, the Small Business Saturday movement is pretty much set in the United States but that does not mean Canadians can’t participate. We should do it all the time, not just on Nov. 26.
Okay enough talk.
Check out this video all about Small Business Saturday. I also ask you to share it on Facebook, Twitter and whatever other social site you use. Let’s make it big. Make your pledge today!
