Good news for all you die hard Portland Trail Blazers fans. Brandon Roy, walking or not, seems to be safe to remain with the team this year.
Short of his legs falling off, the Blazers sound like they are not going to use the “amnesty clause” on Roy.
That is a big risk if you ask me because waiving Roy would save owner Paul Allen more than $15 million in luxury tax this season and would enable the Blazers to have more free agent money in this year’s market.
But those who Bet money will agree that he is a baller and you just want to love the guy. Giving up on Roy is like putting your long time pet up for adoption just cause he started to wobble going up and down the stairs.
You just can’t give up on Roy. Besides, if he went to another team, it is a situation where the Blazers could very well become cursed if you buy into that. Oh wait, they seem to already be cursed if you look at Greg Oden and Roy’s injury woes.
Nate McMillan calls Roy’s future a lightning rod within the fan base. That is 100% accurate if you ask me. They all love Roy and how can you not. Remember last season’s playoffs where he single-handedly brought the Blazers back to beat the Mavs to keep the series alive. It was epic and it was amazing. Just that game alone will put Roy in the history books in Portland.
Sadly he is a broken down car. His chronically sore knees have been operated on six times in his life, leaving him with bone-on-bone friction. The surgeries have clearly diminished the skills that helped him win Rookie of the Year in 2007 and later become a three-time All-Star.
Even those looking at Football betting tips agree that Roy actually would of been one player that would of benefited from not having a season. He could of rested and recovered, at least as much as you can with no real knees.
But then again, he is a baller. He would of been playing in the streets, in a random gym or even in his driveway. That is just the kind of guy he is and love it or hate it, the Blazers need to keep Roy on the team.
I for one wish him the best and can’t wait to watch him play again soon.
