So if you stopped me and asked me on the street what Canadian would I want on the Toronto Raptors, I would have to say Steve Nash or one of the young kids like Tristan Thompson. Seems logical right. The first ever Canadian born player, could also be a huge asset to the team.

So it really puzzles me today when I read that the Toronto Raptors are about to bring aboard washed up Canadian Jamaal Magloire. Really? Is this going to be another Hakeem Olajuwon situation?

TSN and the Palm Beach Post both have sources having the Raptors poised to bring in Magloire on a one-year deal.

A source familiar with negotiations told the National Post on Wednesday evening that while the move remains a strong possibility, nothing could be done until Friday. It is believed the league will not allow player transactions to go through until Friday at 2 p.m. The new collective bargaining agreement must be ratified by both the players and the league first.

Man it really must be slim pickings out on the market. The Big Cat has spent the last three seasons riding the bench in Miami and I personally don’t see him adding anything other than more fans from Scarborough. Yes, I would of loved Magloire from 4-5 years ago when he was an All-Star, but not now.

I would rather have young players fighting for the spot and develop players rather than throwing money at something you can pretty much bet, won’t work.

This is great for Magloire to finally come home and great for the city and all the local charities, it is just sad it was not back when he was a good player.
