The Indiana Pacers have finally moved Brandon Rush. Rush is off to Oakland to play with the Golden State Warriors and in return Indiana will get Lou Amundson. Who?

Anyways, not important if you are a Pacers fan, you are just happy the deal went down at all. As happy as you will be if discount sports tickets become available!

The team has been trying to trade Rush for over a year and since he is suspended for the first five games of the season, I am impressed they found a suitor. Rush violated the league’s substance-abuse policy and that is why he got hit with the suspension.

Rush can be a valuable asset as long as he can keep his Twitter account from being hacked and keeping his head in the game.

He can play multiple positions and at one time in his life (at Kansas) played defense. With Indiana he was a bit of a let down averaging almost nine points a game and shooting around 40 percent.

So why is Mark Jackson and the Warriors willing to take on Rush? Well for the first time in forever, they have a surplus in big men meaning Amundson (who?) would not be missed. Their front court includes Andris Biedrins, Kwame Brown, David Lee, Ekpe Udoh and Jeremy Tyler.

Udoh has a huge upside and after the growing pains pass, he will be a starter for the Warriors at some point.

Rush will instantly become the Warriors’ most polished swingman coming off the bench. He will help a second unit that includes Klay Thompson, and Dominic McGuire.

It is nice to have someone with the talent of Rush in case Steph Curry or Monta Ellis get in foul trouble or worse, injured. With a shortened season and a pile of games to fit in, having enough healthy bodies could be the difference of being in the playoff hunt and getting tossed in the ping pong hopper again.

The Pacers on the other hand have had some excellent luck in this shortened free agency period. They were able to land David West after numerous hiccups stopped West from going to the Celtics.

There are also rumors that the Pacers are going to add Michael Redd to the team which is a huge gamble if you ask me. The guy is a chucker and will take shots away from Danny Granger and company.

Based on the way the Pacers ended the season taking the Bulls to the limit in the first round and with the addition of West, they will be in the mix.
